Dear folks,
We’ve had an amazing year, and it’s not even over yet. There is still cider to be drunk. Here is a song we recorded last night, it is one of my all-time favorites, and the first song I ever recorded as a kid: laryngitis in December, home from school by myself, and a tape recorder left me inspired… having watched Judy Garland in Meet Me In St. Louis, I loved how “grown up” my voice sounded in its debilitated, gravelly form, so I recorded it and smiled wickedly to myself when I heard it back, oh so throaty, oh so grown up…
For the lady musicians: it’s a wicked difficult song to play in any key but C, and in C is too low for anyone who doesn’t share Nina or Mahalia’s range. Instead of piano, go guitar, if you like it than you shoulda put a capo on it, and the chords are all really simple and easy to play. Plus I have teeny tiny hands, so no excuses beautiful teenagers!
