Hello my darling gummy bears,
Sorry it’s been so long since our last correspondence – I haven’t been this busy since Ms. Tayeh used our piece on December 1! This one is a slightly different bag….
A recap: FRIDAY was an amazing, amazing night for us. Thank YOU for packing Red Devil Lounge with your beautiful and hopefully, by the end of our set, sweaty selves. We played for, I believe, about 75 minutes – twice as long as a typical set – and at the end I couldn’t believe it was over, I wanted to do it all over again…..
For those who missed it… YOU MISSED EATING OONA’S FACE ON A CUPCAKE.
Thank you to Alex’s lovely lady Samantha B for the Lemon, Peanut Butter & Chocolate, and Red Velvet – the latter was my personal favorite. As Samantha put it, “you need merch, so I put your face on a cupcake for your merch table”. Thank you Miss B!! Also, you missed the live debut of our rock anthem ballad “Let It Go”, so bring a lighter / get the app to the next show so you can sway along, lol we are so U2…. we also played a cover of The Who’s Pinball Wizard – validating a specific period of my childhood, in which I was in the play “Tommy”…. I spent a lot of time transferring records to cassette as a youngster, [the entire Beatles catalog, for starters.....] and when we did plays my mom was very clever and would get the soundtrack on economical thrift store vinyl: Oklahoma, West Side Story, etc…. I was slightly mortified when I got The Who’s “Tommy”; it was so flipping different than the bright yellow, “Original Cast Recording” cds my friends had….. obviously, my mother showed great foresight, intuiting that I would leave choreography and china flats behind me in favor of SM-58s and booty shorts…….
But I digress. Mike Rosati captured the live set with great gusto, click here to see the Live OONA series on Flickr.
Tuesday we shot a scene for a movie. Here’s us talking to you from backstage:
It was a super pleasure, everyone on the set was very, very nice and on their shhhh, I rather wish the tall skinny dude hadn’t taken all the veggie lasagna, but the delicious delicious grapes made up for it :)
Aptly titled “I Think It’s Raining”, it rained all day that we were on the set :)
NEXT UP: March 19, 2010 at The Independent in San Francisco. You know what, I’m going to go out on a wee limb here and tell you…. this one will sell out, too. Get tickets by clicking HERE.
If you have not been there, you are in for a mega-treat. I’ve seen some top-tier talent perform there, and I will be doing extra workouts because the stage is about a quarter-mile wide (almost). We are playing with the one and only Joe Bagale, who has so much talent in his pinky finger he should probably be a finger painter.
ps thank you KJ – - -
