Dear 2009,
Thank you for everything. It’s been a very exciting year, and you’ve allowed me to see my flaws clearly enough to grow and try to move beyond them. You’ve shown me love in all shapes and sizes, from other people’s babies to embarking on an intergalactic musical journey to the sweetest embrace; you’ve allowed me to take true joy in other people’s accomplishments and milestones. You made my ears BIG BIGGER BIGGEST they ever have been, and you let me shed some of the weight that’s been shackled to my heart for the last 15 years.
Dear 2009, what adventures we had! I’ll always remember you, and thank you for preparing me for what may come…. I promise I’ll be good to you, 2010, and give you my very absolute best,
Love,
Oona
Some highlights, not in order of gravitas:
1. OF COURSE the Sonya Tayeh piece on So You Think You Can Dance, and meeting Sonya, Ellenore, Jakob, and Twitch, and so many more -
2. Bicycle Music Festival = BMF3
Ahhhh, the sweet release of performing after 4 hours of run-around! To no less than a swarming Dolores Park, sun and smiles all around.
3. Chasing the Moon – thank you Scott McDowell! He booked us for this a year ago, and it was wonderful to be part of it.
4. MTV2. Nuff said. (sorry, that’s my pride talking…)
5. Meeting you, live and online. Every single gig, every note, every word. Without you this would be an exercise in solitude, but you bring us into the light and share your energy and creativity and enthusiasm, and we are so grateful.
Thank you.
